Forum traffic is pretty much officers, me and a couple of other members. As i've mentioned before forum is quite possibly the best way to communicate with the kin, and even if the ppl dont write as long as they read we can get what we need across to everyone.
My suggestion has been for a while to reboot the forum traffic and we are doing pretty good, but one thing we are not doing is being more aggressive in making ppl aware that the forums are alive again.
A simple suggestion as to how that can be done is by updating the kin MotD with most recent info from the forums (ie. post important thread announcement, raid/instance announcements, major changes, etc), and all other news that need to be broadcast to everyone. Also "spamming" the MotD a few times a day (when there is something important to say) at times we have a high volume of ppl online will help greatly as long as its not done so much that it aggravates ppl. This is something i've deployed every time i've lead a guild and it has always worked as a good way to spark interest in those that dont frequent guild pages.
