I know at least Dorf + me need bits of this cthonic badass...can he be beaten?

Helchgam can be beaten as is evident by the Tentacles of Helchgam in the Kinship House. It takes a full Fellowship, someone with the proper keys for the quickest access to his lair and also someone who knows the correct strategy to beat him.

Yes He can be beaten, and we have have killed him in the past. But, with book 14 update, they changed the fight. Now you need more luck than strategy to beat him. The fight has become more frustrating now, with him rooting you on the pillar while it's going down and also he bugs out when you wipe on 1st try and go in try it again.

We have done this fight atleast 10 times(just kin), since the book 14 update and every time it has ended in frustration. So, now we try to avoid this fight whenever we goto CD to save time, until they fix it.
